PSG Vs Manchester City Info & Preview

On Tuesday night, a blockbuster fixture in the UEFA Champions League pits Paris Saint-Germain against Manchester City at the Parc des Princes.

The hosts got off to a rocky start in their group campaign, drawing 1-1 away to a Club Brugge side worthy of all three points.

City, meanwhile, showcased their might in a thumping 6-3 victory over RB Leipzig.

PSG and City met in the semi-finals of last season’s competition, the latter winning both legs to progress 4-1 on aggregate.

Like PSG the year before, they went on to lose their first UCL final.

The way PSG strengthened in the summer led football fans to believe that they would be stronger than ever this season.

However, Mauricio Pochettino has had trouble accommodating the many stars at his disposal, and the biggest of those stars, Lionel Messi, has started his PSG unconvincingly, with injury being partly to blame for the underwhelming start.

Despite these concerns, PSG have won eight of their last nine fixtures, which shows the huge expectations at the club.

Crucially, the one game they did not win was in the competition they want to succeed in most.

A defeat at home against City could put their place in the last 16 at risk.

City have won eight of their last nine UCL fixtures. The only defeat in that sequence came in the final of last season’s competition.

On Saturday, City procured a modicum of revenge when they won by the same scoreline, 1-0, away to their foes from that final, Chelsea, in Premier League action.

Pep Guardiola doesn’t have a star striker whom he depends upon for goals; instead, the entire team scores as a cohesive unit, and they do it well.

They have scored 24 goals over the last seven matches in all competitions.

The win at Stamford Bridge showed the many dimensions of their game.

They are capable of attacking with thrilling abandon and defending with dogged determination.

City are unbeaten in five games against PSG, and the manner of their masterful win there last season suggests that they know how to control their opponents.

Back City to win.
