After their dramatic comeback to beat West Ham United at the London Stadium in the Premier League, Manchester United are set to host West Ham in the third round of the League Cup.
For the third game running, Cristiano Ronaldo was on the mark for United, who have now scored in each of their six matches this season, though keeping just one clean sheet.
While both teams have scored in five of United’s six matches this season, they haven’t conceded more than a goal, with four of the five matches producing over 2.5 goals.
This is United’s third game at home this season, in the earlier two, they won back to back. They have a healthy run in the League Cup too, losing two and winning six of the last nine; both losses were against Manchester City.
West Ham United suffered their first loss of the season in the home defeat to Manchester United and will have themselves to blame.
They took the lead in the game and had a late penalty miss, and in the end, it was a third game in six that they conceded two goals.
Both teams have scored in four of their last six matches, with the team keeping two clean sheets.
West Ham have only failed to score once in their opening six matches, a 0-0 draw with Southampton.
The silver lining for the Hammers is that key forward Michail Antonio will be back from suspension and after his five goals in the opening five games, he will be looking to shock the Red Devils.
Away from home, West Ham are on a good run; they have no loss in six, winning four.
However, they are winless in four matches against Manchester United, losing each of the last three.
