Juventus failed to win their first game of the season, and incoming legendary manager Massimiliano Allegri has a lot of issues to sort ahead of game week two. Despite controlling possession, the Old Lady couldn’t get their shots on target and missed many big chances, which can only be blamed on the lack of match sharpness. They host Empoli, who got the taste of Serie A in the 3-1 defeat to Lazio after their promotion this season. Ironically, they had a similar problem to Juventus as they failed to get their shots on target. Empoli actually had more shots in the game than Lazio despite having 10% less possession.
This is Juventus’ worst clean sheet run, where the serial Italian winners have not kept a clean sheet in 21 games now, in all competitions. This has also resulted in all of their last 10 games seeing a goal-fest. They have scored in 8 of their last 10 fixtures but have conceded every time. On Saturday, the primary objective would be to keep a clean sheet as their 8-game winning streak against Empoli assures a victory, most probably.
Empoli has not beaten Juventus in the last 16 meetings and is not expected to, away from home this weekend. They are without a clean sheet in their last 3 games, too, but impressively netted against Lazio, which must give them some confidence in getting a goal against Juventus. A disciplined side, they hardly conceded a lot of cards in a game.
