Arsenal Vs Chelsea Info & Preview

Promoted side Brentford ensured that Arsenal gets to the worst start this season as they beat the Gunners 2-0 at home on opening day. The red half of London will contend against some big opponents over the next few weekends, which must surely make them regret the Brentford defeat on the first day of the Premier League itself. Meanwhile, the Champions of Europe, Chelsea, won 3-0 against Crystal Palace, which was expected as the Blues played their usual brand of Tuchel ball to nullify all threats at home.

The loss in the Mind Series against Chelsea was Arsenal’s first loss against their rivals in 4 games. They were unbeaten against Chelsea since 2019. They have never conceded more than 2 goals against Chelsea in the last 3 years now, which is an achievement considering the quality gap between the two sides, rising consistently over time.

Chelsea sits second in the title race and shall push for the Premier League trophy this season after Romelu Lukaku. Their last three games have ended in 3 or more goals being scored, which is unusual considering Tuchel’s style of restricting the game to a closed and conducted affair. Their only weakness remains their aerial duels which they usually lose all over the pitch.

We believe that after the Brentford game, Arsenal will do everything they can to put up a massive performance at the Emirates this week. But, it shall only be restricted to closing down most of Chelsea’s attacks.

Arsenal Team News

The Gunners have been exceptionally active in the transfer market this summer, unlike their usual self. After signing Albert Lokonga for the midfield duties, they are close to signing Martin Odegaard and Aaron Ramsdale, which could put them in contention for a European football spot next season. They have a list of injuries coming into this London derby, with Thomas Partey and Gabriel Magalhaes injured (who are usually part of the first team). Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette might just cut being doubtful.

Chelsea Team News

Big Rom is back in the Premier League as Chelsea have broken their transfer record to sign Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan. He is expected to start for them upfront being technically fit from his Milan camp. The biggest miss would be N’Golo Kante, who recently picked up a knock in training but cannot be totally ruled out from the game as he continues his recovery. Moroccan wizard Hakim Ziyech is out, but the Blues will surely not miss him thanks to the likes of Christian Pulisic, Kai Havertz and Mason Mount up for grabs.
